The Allegheny County Law Library (ACLL) is excited to welcome a new addition to our team for the spring, our social work intern who will be available every Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for drop‑in appointments.

This partnership brings a valuable new layer of support to our patrons, many of whom come to the library seeking resources not only for legal research, but also for the complex personal, social, and financial challenges that often accompany legal issues.

ACLL staff are experts in helping community members seek access to legal forms, answers legal information questions, and help with research assistance and court navigation but legal needs rarely stand alone. So we are happy to be calling in additional support and expert care for when being a human, advocating for yourself in Court, and facing housing instability, domestic challenges, financial stress, food insecurity, and even parenting on a tight budget could benefit from additional expert support.

Our social work intern, who is a current graduate student at The University of Pittsburgh, can help with identifying community resources and legal aide networks, navigating systems that feel overwhelming, typing documents, securing interpreters for Court, and more. Working together, our Law Library team and our social work intern, are committed to recognizing and assisting with the complex questions and needs of our community.

Our social work intern is on-site from 11 am – 1 pm on Fridays this spring. But if you can’t make it on Fridays and would like their assistance, email acll@carnegielibrary.org, call 412-350-5353, or stop in when it’s convenient for you. The ACLL team will help to get the information for our social work intern to meet with you in-person, via phone, or even virtually at a time convenient for you.
